PRESS RELEASE: World Expo 2025 Baku Azerbaijan outline key bid themes whilst at World Economic Forum in Davos

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND, January 24, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov, Head of Baku Expo 2025 Taskforce, speaking at the Gala Reception held InterContinental Hotel in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland on the 23rd January 2018, last night outlined how Baku’s bid theme, “Developing human capital, building a better future”, fitted naturally into the broader topic of the theme of the World economic Forum this year, “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World.”

The event was hosted to bring Baku’s message to a wide range of decision makers who attended the evening. Attendees ranged across the public and private sectors and included ambassadors and diplomats, foundations and education establishments, media, entrepreneurs and senior figures from industry.

In his speech Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov highlighted:

• Like the World Economic Forum, the World Expo is an important vehicle which brings the world together to convene and share ideas.
• Developing human capital means finding ways to help people adapt to technological advancements. It means helping improving the quality of life for each individual. It means constructing the foundations of what makes stable and healthy societies. We believe now is a time, more than ever, to focus on developing HUMAN capital, to reduce widening inequalities and to provide opportunities for growth, creativity and success.

The speech defined the importance of the bid’s sub – themes which align to three of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals:

• Education. We recognize the importance of education and training to assist people in work, to create skilled societies and to manage technological change
• Work. We recognize the need for individuals to participate in society through employment, but we also see the impact of technology on the labor market.
• Health. We believe it is in healthy societies that effective human capital development takes place.

Commenting on the event Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov said,

“Baku’s bid theme – “developing human capital, building a better future” is a topic we are proud to be discussing here at the World Economic Forum. The world is transforming at an ever greater pace, and our focus on the human needs which form our bid’s sub themes – of health, education and work – are issues faced by every country across the globe. Whilst economies and societies transform, these are topics which bind people together and dictate their chances of a better life. We were delighted to have had the opportunity to showcase our vision here in Davos and were most encouraged at the positive response we received both during and after the event.“
