Things went much better for Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson, who transformed from a road-kill munching hillbilly to a ‘beautiful young lady’ in the series premiere.

The 12-year-old reality star danced a salsa with her 13-year-old pro partner Tristan Ianiero – scoring a very respectable 19 out of 30.

Things were a little tense before Alana’s dance when her mother June Shannon, a.k.a. Mama June, dropped by to lecture her partner Tristan.

‘All I got to say to you is don’t be looking her direction, just dance for her very nicely, otherwise you’ll have her step-father to attend to,’ warned the 39-year-old reality star.

‘You were right in character and you held up the whole performance throughout,’ said her fellow judge Adam Rippon, a figure skater and Athletes celebrity champion.

Third judge Valentin Chmerkovskiy, a Ukrainian-American pro from DWTS, smiled and added: ‘For me the most beautiful thing about you is your confidence…you love life.'

‘I feel like a proud parent, but most of all I feel really nauseous, I’m so glad it’s over, ’ laughed Boo Boo’s mentor Artem Chigvintsev.
