Armenia: EuroClub Vayk raises awareness of environmental protection by cleaning the Arpa River

Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) from EuroClub Vayk held a hands-on environmental event on 23 March focused on assessing and improving the health of the Arpa River in Vayots Dzor region of Armenia.

The activity, organised by two local YEAs, aimed to raise awareness of the importance of rivers, engage local youth in environmental protection, and contribute to the overall well-being of the local ecosystem.

The 12 young participants had the chance to learn about and conduct basic water quality tests and perform a hands-on cleanup along the riverbanks to remove waste and debris.

At the end of the event, participants took part in an educational session on the impact of human activities on river ecosystems.

The activity reflected the EU’s commitment to sustainable development and responsible environmental practices, and promoted environmentally friendly behaviour among local young people in Vayk.
The Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative brings together socially engaged youth from the six Eastern Partner countries, the European Union and the United Kingdom to foster dialogue and to raise awareness about the EU and its cooperation with its Eastern partner countries.
