Sarah Palin fired back at Sacha Baron Cohen during an appearance on Good Morning America Friday, while also sharing new details of the interview he 'duped' her into taping for his Showtime series Who is America.

The former Alaska governor called Cohen 'sick' and 'evil,' and revealed how she eventually stormed out of the interview when he claimed Chelsea Clinton had undergone a 'government funded sex change.'

'It just got worse and worse and worse as the minutes went on in this bizarre, really embarrassing, humiliating interview,' said Palin of her sit-down with Cohen last November.

'It mocked middle class Americans. It mocked our values. It mocked the disabled and it just got worse and worse.'

The interview later shifted to talk of Palin's political future and a possible run for office, with the former vice presidential nominee, saying: 'Perhaps it is in my future to get out there and serve the public. I would love to.'

Palin revealed that she had been duped by Cohen in a Facebook post earlier this week, claiming the actor had impersonated a wounded veteran to interview her.

Cohen then refuted that statement on Thursday by sharing a letter from one of the characters he plays, Billy Wayne Ruddick.

That letter stated that Palin had been told during the interview that he was a veteran of the United Parcel Service, and not the armed forces.

'It was proposed to me as a legitimate interview to speak about veterans issues and our military and current events to a new audience,' Palin told Robin Roberts of how the interview was first presented to her last year.

'It was supposed to be this big-time Showtime documentary and it was passed on to me by a speaker's bureau, which I would assume had done some vetting, but, you know, this "comedian" is obviously very good at lying, at duping people.'

DailyMail.com was told by a source with knowledge of the the interview that it was the American Programs Bureau that presented this opportunity to Palin, the same group who manages the likes of Larry King, Sean 'P Diddy' Combs, Sir Richard Branson and Mikhail Gorbachev, to name a few.

That same source said that Palin then flew down to Washington DC in November with her youngest daughter Piper, 16, to tape the interview.

Palin explained to Roberts however that soon after she began speaking with Cohen, she became suspicious of a number of things, claiming she was presented with graphs and statistics that had typos and appeared to be nothing more than 'propaganda.'

Then the question about Chelsea Clinton's sex change was raised, at which point Palin said she was done with the interview

'It was occurring to me, whatever this show is, whatever this interview really is, is all about humiliation and devaluing middle class Americans, whom I represent,' explained Palin.

'I said, "Enough was enough," and I took off my mic and I walked out.'

She did not make mention of her previous claim that Showtime left her stranded at the airport in the wake of the interview, but did say that she has heard nothing from the network since that day.

'They had given us fake names as to producers and anybody involved in the show, so nobody has taken me up on my offer for them to donate the proceeds from this show to veterans organizations that truly support and respect our vets,' said Palin.

Roberts then revealed that Showtime refused a request from ABC to see footage of the interview proving that Cohen had pretended to be a former parcel worker and not a disable veteran.

'So how do you respond to them saying that he was not indeed acting as an injured veteran,' Roberts asked Palin.

She responded by saying that Cohen was a 'proven liar,' and then hit out at the letter her posted on Thursday which said that Ruddick could not serve in the armed forces because he had 'bone spurs in his testes.'

'He just, you know, he thinks this kind of stuff is funny and mocking the disabled and mocking and belittling our vets with his portrayal,' said an exasperated Palin.

'In my book it's not funny.'

Robert then asked Palin if her decision to speak out was a good one, noting that by doing so the former governor had brought even more attention to the series ahead of its debut this Sunday.

'I think it is important to know if people tune in to the show then they're going to see how middle class Americans are mocked and our values are mocked,' said Palin.

'This comedian too, he mocks gays, he mocks Jews, he does these other episodes where the intent is to humiliate. It's to parody something that is important to an individual or an entity or group of people.'

A Showtime spokesperson had no comment about Palin's latest interview when contacted by DailyMail.com.

In the wake of her Facebook post on Tuesday it was revealed that a number of other political figures had been duped by Cohen including Roy Moore, Trent Lott, David Petraeus, Alberto Gonzales, Howard Dean and Bernie Sanders.

One day before Palin went public, the network teased Cohen's new show with a clip of Cohen's interview with former vice president Dick Cheney.

In that preview he is seen autographing a plastic gallon jug, which he hands back to Cohen before saying: 'That’s the first time I’ve ever signed a waterboard.'
