Caribbean Producers Jamaica unmasks ‘The Cellar Society’

Wine enthusiasts filed into Mystic Thai Restaurant in Montego Bay to witness a soft launch of The Cellar Society at an exclusive Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ) event over the weekend.

Observed under a strict masquerade and all-black dress code, the three-hour affair catered specifically to winos, and organisers created an atmosphere of mystery moments before they ‘unmasked’ this addition to the culinary landscape.

By curating exceptional wine collections and expertly pairing them with exquisite fare and events, the Cellar Society aims to elevate and educate wine enthsiasts to new heights of sophistication and delight.

Dinner guests were privy to sensory indulgence as they savoured the Antinori Wines, served with hors d’ouevres dispatched from the Mystic Thai kitchen – each varietal was thoughtfully chosen and equally complementary to the flavours and textures of the Thai cuisine.

Guests were encouraged to scan the QR code available at their tables to register and join an a quarterly wine subscription in the categories of: Fun Lover’s Box, the Aficionado Box and the Director’s Cut Box.

Kemmar Lewis, regional category manager for Wines, Spirits and RTDs at CPJ, spoke of his enthusiasm in launching The Cellar Society.

He said: ‘Jamaica’s wine culture has evolved tremendously over the years and with The Cellar Society, CPJ is moving beyond delivering cases of wine monthly to wine lovers to curating experiential occasions by partnering with restaurateurs across Jamaica to provide exclusive gastronomy events where ‘wine’ will be [highlighted]. In addition, with the quarterly subscriptions our discerning consumers will be able to recreate these culinary pairings with wine in the comfort of their homes with their family and friends.’

Oenophile Shauntelle Duffus underscored CPJ’s commitment to the continued evolution of the wine culture in Jamaica by stating that The Cellar Society is an indication of the team’s work in selecting the finest wines from around the world and curating special experiences to showcase their versatility and complexities.
