Wine enthusiasts filed into Mystic Thai Restaurant in Montego Bay to witness a soft launch of The Cellar Society at an exclusive Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ) event over the weekend.
Observed under a strict masquerade and all-black dress code, the three-hour affair catered specifically to winos, and organisers created an atmosphere of mystery moments before they ‘unmasked’ this addition to the culinary landscape.
The Cellar Society aims to redefine wine consumption as a lifestyle journey in Jamaica, finding a thin line between fine wines and gastronomy.
Dinner guests were privy to sensory indulgence as they savoured the Antinori Wines, served with hors d’ouevres dispatched from the Mystic Thai kitchen – each varietal was thoughtfully chosen and equally complementary to the flavours and textures of the Thai cuisine.
Guests were encouraged to scan the QR code available at their tables to register and join an a quarterly wine subscription in the categories of: Fun Lover’s Box, the Aficionado Box and the Director’s Cut Box.
He said: ‘Jamaica’s wine culture has evolved tremendously over the years and with The Cellar Society, CPJ is moving beyond delivering cases of wine monthly to wine lovers to curating experiential occasions by partnering with restaurateurs across Jamaica to provide exclusive gastronomy events where ‘wine’ will be [highlighted]. In addition, with the quarterly subscriptions our discerning consumers will be able to recreate these culinary pairings with wine in the comfort of their homes with their family and friends.’
‘With The Cellar Society,’ Duffus stated, ‘we invite our guests to embark on a journey of discovery, where every sip and bite tells a story of passion, craftsmanship, and indulgence.’
The launch of The Cellar Society is an earmark for the future of Jamaica’s culinary landscape. As The Cellar Society continues to delight and inspire, Caribbean Producers Jamaica remains committed to excellence, innovation, and the art of living well.
